About us

Youssef Ait Brahim

Founder and mountain guide

I was born in Aroumd, the village above Imlil, and I have walked these paths since I could carry water for my mother. Guiding is how I share the valley with people who want to understand it, not just photograph it.

I started as a muleteer for trekking groups at sixteen, then trained as a mountain guide and led my first Toubkal ascent in 2012.

In 2014 my brother and I started Atlas Trails so we could organise trips the way we wanted: small groups, families we know, and enough time in each place.

How we guide

I plan every day around the people on the trip: their pace, what they want to see and what they eat. Safety comes first in the mountains, and I would always rather turn back than take a risk.

What to expect

  • A reply within a few hours, from me or my brother
  • A clear program and price before you pay anything
  • The same guide from the first day to the last
  • Meals with local families wherever possible
