Walnut terraces and stone villages in the Imlil valley below bare Atlas peaks

About Imlil

Imlil sits at about 1,740 m in the Ait Mizane valley, 65 km south of Marrakech. The road stops here; beyond it, mule tracks link stone and earth villages built into the slopes.

It is the starting point for walks between the villages of the valley and for the ascent of Jbel Toubkal (4,167 m). In autumn the walnut harvest fills the terraces; in spring the almond and cherry trees flower.
